My thoughts on ai boil down to the following sentence

Once you outsource thinking it’s hard to get it back

Learning is the key

This all comes back to understanding. As mentioned in my last post, domain knowledge simply cannot exist without critical thinking, the ability to formulate directional opinions (both right and wrong) that then lead to new and novel outcomes is a muscle that degrades SIGNIFICANTLY when the core tenant of improvment aka thinking and experimentation is offloaded to a mindless process.

Another way of saying this is,

If the outcome arrives faster than the understand you have not absorbed the concepts and so have nothing to build on, the next task starts from zero.

Surface results with no compounding value

Practical steps I’ve been taking

• If i dont understand something, the work must be done by me until i do
• Resist the easy path and extreme unrealistic deadlines
• Go into a project with defined learning goals, i.e. the task should get done but also theres this cool new thing that the work itself can unlock as a side effect.

TLDR

Bottom line

• Learning should be a goal underneath the raw task
• ai as the brainstorming assistant
• Brain as the root owner that always sets the direction and understands everything as a whole.
